In this week’s travel guide I would like to suggest our fellow backpackers to visit Birishiri, Shushong Durgapur. It is a beautiful landscape with the flow of the Shomeshwari River (but the last time I went there I crossed the river by a rickshaw, but I guess you guys will find a fine flow now since it has been raining for quite some time now), the ceramic mountains, the Christian missionary, the small hills near the India Bangladesh borders etc.
How to get there?
The best possible way to travel locally is to go to Mymensingh bus stand or commonly known as Mohakhali bus stand and catch a direct bus to Birishiri. Ticket is not more than Taka 350.
Where to stay?
The best ways to explore is by foot, or rent a rickshaw and ask him to take you to all the tourist spots. Believe me, they know it all.

Very informative…
Hi Limana, Its really wonderful.Do you vist my web site?
its really nice
hmmm
I like the color of the water in your picture…I also think it will be a great experience to camp in the ceramic mountain…

Hello there Limana excellent presentation. I need to know first I have to go to Mymensingh. Then via Netrokona to Durgapur? Am I right? From Dhaka to Mymensingh its approx 110-120 kms. How much is the distance from Mymensingh to Netrokona and from Netrokona to Durgapur? How much time does it take from Mymensingh to Durgapur? How is road condition? Finally your snaps are great.
Nope, you can take a direct bu8s to Birishiri and from there you can get to durgapur very easily and thanks.
Hey everybody, interested abt Shusong Durgapur and Birisiri can visit this group in facebook.com for required information and sharing.

hey Limana…. it’s good to see the post re: birishiri… we are planning on going….. wanted to know if driving down there would be feasible as someone mentioned in another blog that the roads are fairly bad… if we do take a car, would parking overnight be ok? (i.e. can i leave it somewhere if we take a boat trip for the night etc..)… what about accommodation? do we have to reserve something or can we go and get a place? (YMCA, is that an option?)…. lastly, thanks for the post…

well driving down to Birishiri is not a very good idea, if you do want to drive you should take a jeep or something cause the roads as far as I can remember are fairly bad, its more fun if you go by bus that way you can stay tension free, relax and have fun. If you want to stay overnight its best that you go to YMCA office at Shegunbagicha and talk to them directly, the office is near the Shilpakala Academy at Shegunbagicha. About your queries on backpack, you don’t get north face backpacks here in Bangladesh. But, you can go to new market and buy a backpack of SUNBER or Camel Mountain (these are all local I think but currently I’m using one and its good) that will cost you 700 to 800tk max for the big ones and 500 for the small ones.
Thank you for your detail information about Birishiri. We are planning to visit there. Which season would you suggest to visit? Do you think 2 days is enough for exploring the place?
Thanks again.
Nazmin.
